You need to have a short black cable going from the box to the antenna input on your tv, then hook your antenna be it a outside or inside antenna to the box directly for local channels.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I agree with you that the instructions leave a lot to be desired. I am using an over the air antenna with coax cable. The antenna plugs into the "RF in" plug on the back of the converter box. I decided to use a HDMI cable to connect to the TV. Plug the cable into the HDMI out port on the converter box and into the proper port on your TV. Switch your TV to HDMI and go to the menu on the converter box. I used the auto search option on the channel search menu to find the channels available. Hope this helps!

From your antenna cable, use a splitter to run one COAX cable to the DVR and the other COAX cable to the antenna input on the TV. Also, use an HDMI cable to connect the DVR to the TV. Then you can record one OTA channel while watching another and use the HDMI input to watch the recording.
