Do I need to carry a smartphone to use the device null

Hi there, No, you can use the Watch independent of a smartphone however you will not be able to access some of the features like call and text notifications and Alexa. Kieron | Amazfit Support

I don't know if it is a need, but I find the menu on the app a lot easier to use than trying to swipe around the watch face.
