Hi David, Audio books could be stored, but this model does not have bluetooth, so they could not be played b/c there is no internal speaker, you would need the next model up for the Bluetooth capability, which would be the Kindle Paperwhite. The special offers depends on the the retailer and the company that is offering the special and what they bundle. Hope this info helps.
