No. The Amazon Echo Dot connects to your home wireless network and uses this to connect to the internet as opposed to a wireless data plan (phone connection).
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, it is connected to your home network.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. When setting up, you configure it to connect to your home wireless router. Most functions from that point require an wireless internet connection, which is provided from your wireless router, since the Dot does not have a wired interface.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No it uses your home wifi
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It does use bandwidth on a Wi-Fi network, although not all too extreme of amounts unless you constantly ask it questions. It does also use data on a cellular plan, although again, not a lot of data. Data usage will depend upon how often you ask Alexa questions and/or if your device is connected to wi-fi. If your phone is connected to wi-fi while using Alexa, you will use no data from most cellular carrier's plans. If you are not connected to wi-fi, data usage is minimal and depends upon how often you ask it to do things. Amazon Echo uses data since it is connected to your phone through the Alexa app.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Maybe at setup, after that it uses your home WIFI
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, if your only internet connection is through a phone companies hotspot. That's not a typical way of having it set up but it's not unheard of either for most people the answer would be no it will use your home internet connection
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes this is going to use data. I would think a very small amount, but depends on your usage. You can setup the table/smartphone to go to the webpage when you ask a question, and this will definitely use data... it would be no different than going to the webpage yourself. I set-up my fire tablet to work this way, but I have a grandfathered non-throttled unlimited data plan so it does not affect me at all.
