Nope. They are intended to stay plugged in and always on. They don't use hardly any electricity when not actively in use, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. I personally leave an echo plus and 2 dots plugged in at all times.

With the use of “Alexa” and Smarthome devices, use can ask questions right from your bed that may make it easier for you to get a good night sleep. ie: “Turn off nightstand lights” or “How is the weather tomorrow”

There's videos on youtube about Alexa or Echo listening or playing music at random. I don't know about you, but I think we're brainwashed enough. Also, the night breaks should help the device last longer.
