• The 4th is a newer model. I was told it has better sound. I am SO happy with it!

• Hi Bella! The 3rd-gen Dot measures 1.7 inches tall and 3.9 inches in diameter. The Echo Dot 4th-gen is spherically shaped, and it measures 3.5 inches tall and 3.9 inches in diameter (the same diameter as the previous generation). Both devices have the same Alexa smart home technology, and both have a 1.6 inch speaker. The only difference with the speaker is that in the 4th gen Dot it is now front-facing, which allows for clearer sound at higher volumes. Thanks for your question, have an amazing day!!
