Can it play music from my iPhone null

Hey Jack, Your Echo dot 4th gen should allow you to play music from your IPhone once you pair the two via Bluetooth.

I have an actual amazon echo which is slightly better than the echo dot, in my opinion, however, it does allow you to play from virtually any Bluetooth device because that's how you set it up and connect it to the wifi. You can even download Spotify on smart tv and have it connect to the echo.
