I will say the generation 5 because is the one I have but I like,keeping me update with the time,temperature and music.

And pictures set up from the app. I keep putting the case picture up so you recognize i was only satisfied with 1 of these purchases. The Alexis it was the best price as well.

The Echo Show 8 2nd Gen has a 8” HD touchscreen, adaptive color, and stereo speakers bring entertainment to life. You can make video calls with a 13 MP camera that uses auto-framing to keep you centered. In comparison, the Echo Show 5 has a 2 MP Camera and if you are wanting to use it for 'drop in" and video calling with family and friends the Echo Show 8 would be the better option! Hope that helps!
