I have both echo 5 for my daughters and echo 8 for me and my wife .. i think the echo 8is better bigger screen and .better sound quality

The Echo Show 8 has a larger screen and is a larger device. Depending on where you want to utilize this device in your home both will be just fine. The Echo Show 8 2nd Gen has a 8” HD touchscreen, adaptive color, and stereo speakers bring entertainment to life. You can make video calls with a 13 MP camera that uses auto-framing to keep you centered. In comparison, the Echo Show 5 has a 2 MP Camera and if you are wanting to use it for 'drop in" and video calling with family and friends the Echo Show 8 would be the better option! Hope that helps!
