  • QuestionWhat exactly can you do with the show8 besides video call which I hate. Only feature I know and love is the recipes stay lit so I don’t have to keep tapping my iPad. What else is Echo good for?

    Asked by CColl.

    • Answer Hello CColl! This is a great question! There are a multitude of features you can use the Echo Show 8 for that aren't just video calls! Yes, the recipes feature is tremendous to use, but you can also use the video streaming capabilities of the device for a plethora of streaming services such as Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, etc. You can also use it for streaming music with your favorite music services such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Spotify. In addition to these features, Alexa can be used for numerous other tasks such as controlling smart home devices, being an intercom using a "drop in" or "announcements" feature, securing your home as a security camera that you can access through your Alexa app, and be a link to video doorbells so you can see who is at your door through your doorbell with compatible devices. All of this is just the tip of the iceberg of ways you can utilize your Echo Show 8 but I hope this helps and answers your question a bit! Thanks again for inquiring and I hope you have a phenomenal day!

    Asked by Fred.

    • Answer Hello Fred! I believe you are asking if you can use the Echo Show with an iPhone? There is an Alexa app available for download on the Apple AppStore which allows you to utilize the full extent of what the Echo Show can offer. Also, since the Show is a screened device, you can even use and set it up without using an app at all. You can just follow the onscreen instructions and the device is a full featured touch screen. • QuestionCan you show a side-by-side checklist of Features comparing the 8 second generation to the 10 third generation please

    Asked by Dee.

    • Answer Dee, Hello! I can't do a side by side on here but, I can tell you in a snap shot quickly...starting with the SHOW8: The new Echo Show 8 has some great upgraded features. The device now has a 13 MP camera that is built to keep you in frame! The camera has auto-framing that can zoom and tilt to always keep you in frame and centered for video calls. You can also look in when you're away with the built-in camera. The Echo Show 8 gives you control of compatible devices like cameras, lights, and more using the interactive display, your voice, or your motion. Show10: Move around the room during video calls or while you're cooking along to a recipe and the brilliant 10.1" HD screen will automatically turn to face you! Catch up with your favorite people without having to worry about staying in frame, the 13mp camera can zoom in and pan out to make sure you are centered! Take a look around when you're away! Watch your shows with the premium sound that adapts to the space you're in and so much more... I hope this helps explain some of the features of the Echo SHOW8 compared to the SHOW10

  • QuestionWill I be able to connect the Nest/Google video doorbell, thermostats, indoor and outdoor cameras to this 2nd gen Echo 8? I was also told you can't watch YouTube?

    Asked by Chanimal23.

    • Answer Hello, Chanimal23! Yes! You can access your Nest/Google doorbell, thermostat, and other cameras on your Echo Show 8. All you would need to do is enable the Nest skill in the Alexa App and that will link all of your Nest devices to Alexa. As far as YouTube goes, you can access it on the device, but it is not through an app. It is accessible through the web browser on the device. Simply say, "Alexa, show me cat videos on YouTube" and she will pull it up for your! Have a great day!

    • Answer Hello Burnsiecat, you want to know if the Amazon Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) Smart Display with Alexa will contact you if your cat dies when you are away from home as you heard this was an added feature. Seems like you are referring to Alexa Guard and Alexa Guard Plus, which will be able to notify of sounds and events that happen in your home when it is activated. • QuestionDoes this Echo come with an sd card slot?

    Asked by LadynHelotes.

    • Answer Hi Lady, The Echo Show devices do not come with a slot for an SD Card, but you can link your Facebook account or your Amazon Photos account and have it scroll through pictures like a digital frame. You would do this by pulling down the screen from the top, select "settings" and then choose "wallpaper and clock" and you can choose your wallpaper from there. This would allow you to link either of the accounts to use like a digital frame. Hope this information helps. Have a great day.

  • QuestionCan you pair Show8 with an EchoStudio for more mids and bass? Or do they interfere w/each other? Are there other options that would pair better with Show 8 for music? Wife wants a Show8 but I want to add some Oomph. Thanks

    Asked by Bkheel.

    • Answer Hello Bkheel! Yes, you absolutely can! You are actually able to pair them together to create stereo sound by going to the Echo Studio in your Alexa app on your smartphone and selecting Stereo Pair / Subwoofer and then selecting your Show 8 and following the on screen instructions. You can also create multi room music groups and have them play music simultaneously under Devices in your Alexa app. So there are a few different ways to achieve this. I hope this answers your question and that you have a tremendous day!

  • QuestionCan you call 911

    Asked by Steph.

    • Answer Hi Steph! While you cannot use an Echo to call 911, there are a few options available to get help in an emergency. First, you can set up an Emergency Contact. Here's the description from Amazon: After you set up Alexa Communications, you can assign a contact as an emergency contact in the Alexa app. After you select a contact, a message is sent to that number informing the recipient they've been selected as your emergency contact. Alexa attempts to call and text your emergency contact when you use any of the following phrases: "Call for help." "Call my emergency contact." "Call my contact for help." "Call my help contact." "Help." "I need help." If your emergency contact misses your call, your contact can use the Alexa app to call your Echo device. There is also the paid Alexa Emergency Assist service that offers a direct connection to a trained first responder, while also alerting your Emergency Contact that a call has started. I would suggest looking into that service to see if it would meet your needs. I hope this helps, have a great rest of your day!

  • QuestionCan this be used with "Ring"

    Asked by Angela.

    • Answer Hi Angela, Yes! Ring devices are compatible with Alexa and can be linked via your Alexa App. During set up of your Echo Show 8 (2nd Gen) you will download the Alexa App. Then, in the upper left hand corner, you'll see three horizontal bars. Tap them. From there, use the following steps: In the menu that appears, tap Skills & Games. On the next screen, search for Ring in the search box. After you've found Ring, tap the "enable" button. Next, Alexa will ask you to sign in to your Ring account. Doing so will link your Ring account to your Alexa account. After signing in, you'll be asked to discover devices. Tap the Discover Devices button. All of your Ring devices should appear and be connected to Alexa automatically. If you don't want Alexa to integrate with a particular Ring device, simply tap Forget on the right side. If none of your Ring devices appear automatically, you can ask, "Alexa, discover my devices." Hope that helps!
