I purchased a show for my father in a nursing home. With Covid 19 his nursing home has a no visitor policy during the pandemic. I now can drop in and FaceTime him without having to call the front desk. He is a stroke patient and can’t move his right side at all. He doesn’t have to answer verbally or touch anything with a drop in. I’m very grateful for the echo show!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I also have purchased several Amazon Echo devices for my elderly parents. I find the following most useful: 1. With Amazon Prime she can say "Alexa play music by...." Alexa will play almost any song and/or artist she can imagine. 2. Cooking timers and alarms 3. Sold separately, you can add smart switches (I use WEMO) to control the lights fans etc. with a simple "Alexa turn on the light". You can name your devices anything you want, "Alexa, turn on the living room". 4. Ring cameras/door bells: She could view and talk to whomever is at the front door and not have to move from another room. 5. Video calling: She will be able to make and answer video calls to you. 6. Jokes and games: Ask Alexa to tell a joke 7. Ask Alexa anything. If she doesn't know she'll tell you that.

Then, when the date and time approaches, the screen displays and her voice says "This is your reminder to take your medication." (You can set up a recurring reminder). You can ask her what the traffic is like on the way to work and she will tell you (ex: "traffic looks a little heavy; the best route is....", along with a display of how long it will take you to get there. Sync your calendar with Alexa so she can tell you what is on your schedule. You can also put the Alexa app on your phone/tablet and add reminders from there. These will then sync with your Show. Example: Set up a reminder on your Alexa app for your spouse to feed Fido at 6 PM. You may not be at home at 6 PM, but your spouse is and will get the reminder on the Echo Show at 6 PM to feed Fido. The reminders will stay on the screen until you dismiss them. And they will keep reminding you until you delete them. While you are listening to music, you can ask Alexa to increase, decrease the volume of the speaker (which I happen to think has a great sound), or to stop playing music altogether. You can say, "Alexa, play lullaby music" and she will choose a playlist and start playing. You can then say "Alexa, stop playing music in one hour" and she will. Keep in mind that Alexa is always adding skills and apps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Get the google hub max. Echo show Doesn't have app market and is hardly compatible with anything. They have what you call "skills" which aid in using the echo show but I hate it. You can only use Skype and they charge. You have to have alexa app to video chat.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’m 72 with arthritis in my thumbs (strange). I absolutely love my Alexa Echo Show 5 and now I’m getting the larger screen! Because of my hands, I purchased 2 smart plugs for lamps and named them so that I can tell Alexa to turn them off or on. Love this! Alexa reminds me to do whatever I tell her to (laundry, appointments). She(ha) can make calls or read my emails, play music and podcasts.,,read books. Love the Echo!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. She can make a phone call on it if you set it up to her phone. Get cooking reveries, weather, watch certain shows, add to grocery lists or set reminders. It works with ring doorbell too.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought an echo show for my mother in law she has dementia and we live 3 hours away I have my daughter check in on her physical every evening but the echo show helps us check on her throughout the day by dropping in she doesn't have to answer anything it helps us help her figure out how to work things she forgets how to use by being able to see her physically it helps with alarms for reminders to eat take meds shower anything we think she may forget to do throughout the day this little electronic device has helped us keep her from going to a nursing home or moving in with us, although we would love her to move in, we don't want her to be able to lose her independence she loves her home and doesn't want to leave it.. to sum this up this is the best investment we have ever made!
