• amazon fire runs a customized version of android. you don't have google play but you have an appstore. most of the apps that they are on google play are available for Amazon fire.

• I don't believe that there is much of a difference, i tried to look it up as well, i ended up getting the Amazon one solely bc i already had a amazon acct and we can watch movies on amazon prime as well as using points earned through amazon.
