How much storage does fire stick have null

Amazon lists 8 GB, I've had mine for about a month, installed Netflix and HBO exclusively, and in settings I’m quoted at less than 1GB of 5.9GB Total storage remaining. Considering a solid chunk of that 4.9 GB is unremovable involuntary Amazon Apps, and foolishly having thought that when Amazon says it has 8 GB memory that would mean 8gb of memory the avg joe can actually use, the fact that it’s ‘for streaming not recording‘ is a moot point, because I can hardly do either. Amazon doesn't have to do this- list misleading specs and then sell cheap, under-performing Devices that are little more than Ad machines and consumer data collecting devices- just tell me what the real specs are, and tell me what to pay if I want it. You know, like business.
