It depends on if your firestick is jailbroken if not and you pay for all of the apps and channels on the fire stick you shouldn't need a remote you should be able to use your Echo but if you did jailbreak it and you have the Kodi setup you might need a remote because I'm not sure Kodi works with Echo as far as selecting movies and TV shows. And you definitely should get those channels I haven't found a Channel, show, or movie that wasn't on there if you have Kodi.
