• A:Answer Kindle (ebooks) exists just to do the reverse of what you are asking for. It is do get away from the internet pings and notifications and immerse in book reading. You can always read and listen to music from your phone.

• A:Answer No headphone jack, you will need Bluetooth headphone, if for just audible, I would get her a tab instead. Kindle is all about reading “ e ink”, making it easier on the eyes.

• A:Answer I’ve never owned the Kindle Fire, but I would assume you’re correct about it being the same except without the color. I also own the Paperwhite and the Kindle bookstore is very easy to navigate on both the Paperwhite and the Oasis. I wouldn’t think you would see much of a difference in the store between the different Kindle devices. I love both of the e-readers!

• A:Answer I was using a paperwhite as well and was hesitant to buy the oasis. I finally make the purchase and I really like it. I like the fact it is water resistant so I can use it in the hot tub or in the pool. And it is really fast and responsive. The lights seem like an upgrade as well. I also like the option for the buttons for turning pages. So far I am happy with my purchase. I am not missing my paperwhite at all.

• A:Answer The short answer is no. They both read different formats and have a different DRM scheme. If bought from B&N they would be in epub format and would have to have the DRM removed and then converted to the Kindle format.

Q: QuestionDo you find it dosen’t always return to the page you left off after reopening it? I returned 2 already that periodically it would return to 3 pages prior...don’t want to chance of getting another one that will do this.

• A:Answer It generally returns to the page last left open, however, I noticed that with the "swipe-to-unlock" feature, if it didn't respond right away and I impatiently swiped twice, it would sometimes advance the pages. I would prefer that the touch screen not automatically advance the pages -- that would be the reason to have the two hardware buttons, IMO -- but I haven't seem if there is a way to disable this in settings.

• A:Answer Don't waste your money on the larger model. 8 Gbytes is a lot of books! I used to have 100+ books on my Voyager and never ran out of room. I have about 10 books on my new Oasis 8 Gb and it has only used 0.1 Gbytes so far.
