• Resolution is low on kindle and there is no backlight in kindle, whereas there is backlight in kindle paperwhite.

• The paperwhite is lighter in weight and easier on the hand. It is easier on the eyes for reading. My wife has 2 kindle's and I bought her the paperwhite. She would never go back to the regular kindle. If you are buying for reading then the paperwhite is the way to go.

• The Paperwhite has a built in light for low light reading. I highly recommend buying the Paperwhite.
