• Wi-Fi is typically free, where 3G is service based through cell phone carriers at a cost. 3G stands for 3rd Generation Mobile phone technology. Anything 3G for a device is gong to come at a cost.

• Wifi will only work with a wifi hot spot, for downloading books to your kindle. 3G is attached to a cell phone network so you can down load on the go. The thing with 3G is that it will cost you money on your cell phone bill.

• 3g is using the same connection that a smartphone uses for data and wifi allows you to connect with a standard internet connection.
