As long as it fits in your cigarette lighter and with the help of your mobile phone, after setting up your device you no longer need your cell phone with you if your just using your thumb drive or SD card for example.

Yes it should work. It did in my Corolla cigarette lighter.

As long as your Miata has a working cigarette lighter that fits the normal size of a cigarette lighter, has an FM antenna that is capable of receiving FM frequency radio waves, and your stereo can receive and play that, then this should work in your Miata. Have fun blasting tunes in your MX-5 :)
