A:Answer They do work independently for both sides. The thing to note is they both connect individually so you'll have a Spirit X2 and a Spirit X2-L. Also, at least something I've been dealing with and can't seem to change is the left side being the default single ear side. When I want to use one, the left side is the quickest to connect, and when I have both in and decide to only use one, if I put the right side back it switches seemlessly. Alternatively, when I keep the right and put the left back, they seem to disconnect for a second and sometimes will reconnect on their own. Choosing the right side as my single sometimes requires manual connection. They also have a tendency to take about 5 seconds on average to connect. I like them and am pleased I didn't buy the beats pro but they still have their quirks
