i live in an area where tv stations are on the other side of some mts. and it works for me.

There are various web sites where you can enter your location, and get that information in miles. I'd be looking for distances of 35 miles or less. And it may take some work to orient it for best results. But yes, it works within limits. There are other indoor antennas available to look at as well as outdoor antennas. No internet connection required, just connect it to either a splitter or to the "external antenna" connection on your TV.
