We had to hook up external speaker to it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does, but the sound quality is poor, for them to work they pull their audio tru there "HDMI" connection. Me personally don't use them I prefer using Logitech Audio systems at least a 2.1 system or a 5.1 system w/ Sub Woofers or a Small footprint "D" or "T" Class Amplifier with a decent Set Of BookShelf 2 Way Speaker system. It will sound awesome ! Note: the 3.5mm hole in the back of the monitor is for using Headphones only. Hope the info helps. Cheer's 73's

I choose to use separate computer speakers, 2 small tweeters with a sub on the floor ( 2.1 setup) , inexpensive and no comparison in sound quality. You should go that route, a better investment you won't regret years later.
