- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. I found the that the ResMed 10 pulls around 104 watts of power at peak power consumption. This would would provide 1h 4min of runtime if that is the only piece of equipment connected to it.

QuestionWhy is there a recommendation not to run a printer on a battery/surge outlet?

- Answer Laser printers pull a LOT of power - possibly damaging the battery inside the UPS. You wouldn't want to hook up a space heater to a UPS for the same reason. Besides, why would you want a battery backup for a printer? It holds no permanent data after it finishes printing. Even if the power went out while printing, you could reprint the image from your UPS backed up computer. My advice - get a separate surge protector for your printer, rated for the amount of power your printer uses (this is important to prevent fire hazards), and plug it into an AC outlet. Or just plug in the printer directly, and buy a new one if the old one gets fried by lightning. They're cheap enough.

- Answer It has both surge only protection as well as battery back up. For sensitive equipment I would recommend using the back up portion. Hope this helps. I have been using these for many years and never had my equipment fail or damaged during outages.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes this unit would be able to shutdown a connected computer when the battery gets low. You would just need to make sure to connect the included USB cable to the UPS then to the computer. If the system is Windows based you can use our PowerChute Personal Edition software or the built in energy saving feature in the system. If the system is a Mac you would need to use the built in energy saving feature as unfortunately our PowerChute Personal software isn't supported on the Mac operating system.

- Answer Thank you for your inquiry. It would depend on much power the laptop draws from the unit. If the laptop draws around 200 watts of power then it would provide 32 minutes of runtime in addition to the internal battery in the laptop. If the power draw is lower then the runtime will be higher. If the power draw is higher then the runtime will be lower.

- Answer The upc expert implied (when answering this question) that this unit is a true sine wave output unit. It is not! In battery, it produces a Step-approximated sine-wave. Check the product pdf file for details.

- Answer yes, for the newer models - APC UPS Battery Replacement, APCRBC163, for APC UPS BR1500MS2 The older models use a different wiring harness which you can reuse. Just take care removing and reusing the the tape that holds the two batteries together. (two (2) 12V 9AH AGM high-rate discharge batteries)

QuestionHow should I clean the UPS after it starts to accumulate dust over time? I do not want dust buildup to become a problem, especially in the vents. However, I want to make sure I dust it off safely.

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. I would just use a dusting cloth to wipe off the UPS. If there is dust in the vent I would use a can of compressed air to remove any dust build up.

- Answer How is this question at all related to this product? This product isn't 3 phase to start with. Then why would you ever connect an industrial sized (160kva=160000va) UPS to a consumer grade 1500va UPS?

QuestionI've read that this UPS, if the "sensitivity" is set to LOW, it will tolerate the "dirty power" that comes from a portable generator. How bad does the generator harmonic distortion have to get before the UPS complains or switches to battery mode?

- Answer Thank you for your interest in our products. If you set the BN1500M2 to low sensitivity the UPS would support 78-142 volts without going to battery. It would also support 60 Hz ± 3 Hz without going to battery, given the voltage is within spec too.

- Answer No, this is only a 900w UPS so it would not supply enough power to operate the gate. It could keep the controller alive, but if the gate was triggered to open, it would overload the UPS. The 20 amp breaker would supply up to 2400w of power if it was fully utilized. The gate motor probably doesn’t draw that much, but if it requires a 20-amp breaker then it probably draws in excess of 1500w and, as I mentioned, this UPS is only designed to provide up to 900w.
