Yes, with iPadOS 13 (released Sep 2019) and later you can connect external USB drives to this iPad. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206481 "If you're on iPadOS, you can access files on a USB drive, SD card, or hard drive through the Files app on iPadOS. Just connect the drive, and then you can select it under Locations." Note: disks that are formatted as NTFS on Windows will not work. For devices that use regular USB (USB-A), you will need a USB-C to USB Adapter. Apple sells one, as do other vendors. Larger external USB drives may require too much power. If so, an alert will appear on the iPad and the drive won't work.
