Download Pages and Numbers from the online App store. They are free apps and they work. Also notes, a basic word processor is standard and included.

Yes - iPad operating sys - IOS 12 - comes with a word processor (PAGES) and a spreadsheet (NUMBERS)

Yes. It has an app called pages. I feel it’s just as good if not better than word. If you have office 360 you can just load that to the iPad and have word that way.

Yes, Apple has first party iOS apps included for free called pages for writing documents and functions similar to word and numbers which is a spreadsheet app similar to excel

The iPad does not have any built-in apps for word processing. The closest you'll get is the Notes app. However, it is possible to download word processors from the iTunes store. Notably, Apple sells the iWork Pages app.
