Hello Lisa, Screen size, be it TV or laptop or tablet, is calculated diagonally... the specs heigh and width you mentioned are the actual physical size of the whole iPad with the bezel included. Hope this answered your question. Thanks -

I am a professional graphic artist and I like the new pen integration to charge and the smaller form-factor for portability.
