No. They just changed their policy. You can no longer use your rewards points money to buy gift or prepaid third party cards. For example I tried to buy a pre paid Version card and the clerk said you can't use card rewards money towards cards anymore. I've been using this program for years...now they changed it. :(
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Apparently not anymore, as of May 21st, 2019. I just tried today at the local Best Buy store. I have rewards points/money amounting to 95 USD that will expire in 4 days, and I don't need anything and have nothing in mind yet to buy. Figured I'd "convert" this to a 100 dollar gift card instead (and just pay the balance) since gift cards don't expire and it will buy me some time to think of something, or maybe just put it aside and accumulate more points until I want to buy anything. Not happy with this new policy, plus the fact that the rewards points have very short expiration durations. Best Buy's way of getting customer's to keep on buying/spending even when you don't need anything, else you just forfeit your points.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It appears that the T&Cs dated 10/21/2019 only preclude the redemption of rewards on Best Buy gift cards. I don't find any language disallowing purchase of 3rd party gift cards. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/my-best-buy/my-best-buy-program-rules/pcmcat311100050001.c?id=pcmcat311100050001 Non-Qualifying Redemptions Except for Non-Qualifying Redemptions identified below, you may redeem reward certificates when the purchase value (excluding tax) exceeds the reward certificate amount. The following purchases or transactions are excluded from redemption of reward certificates (“Non-Qualifying Redemptions”): Prior purchases, leased products, purchases/rentals at rent-to-own locations inside Best Buy Stores, purchases from a Best Buy Store on a third-party website or marketplace (such as Amazon, Google or eBay), some purchases at stand-alone Pacific Sales® Kitchen and Bath Centers, LLC stores, or at Pacific Sales locations within Best Buy Stores, purchase of Best Buy or Magnolia gift cards, point of sale activation (“POSA”) cards, purchases made for resale, payment on any My Best Buy Credit Card, certain premium major home appliances and home theater products, any online transaction that contains the purchase of a Best Buy gift card, sales tax, service charges, and discounted Best Buy Business or commercial purchases. Other exclusions may also apply.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.YES! Not a Besy Buy Gift card, but other third party gift cards will work to pay with points. The current and upcoming Terms of Service state the same the Non-Qualifying Redemptions section.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.if you go to the actual store they will typically allow you to use rewards zone points for buying iTunes gift cards. At least they have done so half a dozen times in the past. They will not allow you to use rewards zone points to purchase gift cards when buying from the online store.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. What BBY is doing here it’s ilegal. Their rules just state that it’s not allowed for “Best Buy gift cards” but they apply that exception to any gift card.
