1TB hard drive is 1000gb so no not even close to an 8gb iphone ;-) Memory and hard drives are completely different. Hard drives store programs and photos and files etc. Memory is where the programs get loaded into in order to run and files get loaded in order to open. The more ram you have the more things you can do at once. The more hard hard drive space you have the more you can store. Think of the hard drive as the size of a cupboard and memory as counter space in the kitchen, or hard drive as the size desk drawers and memory as the size top of your desk.

Most people don't even use half of this amount, but if you save a lot of songs and photos, you could eat up some of the space. However, you can back up these files to various cloud services, many for free if you are a member. For example, Amazon Prime allows you as many photos as you want for no additional fee. 8GB refers to the RAM. This is memory on a chip that runs the hardware and the memory cache of the computer. The more RAM you have, the more you can do at once and the faster the computer is up to a point. iPhones combine RAM & storage. 8 GBs is enough for most tasks unless you edit videos for a living etc. There are some phones to which you can add external memory, such as an SD card, but modern iPhones don't do that. The newer iPhones are at least 32GBs.
