Yes it’s simple to configure. Especially if you have a iPhone or iPad

If you mean that you are having Verizon DSL or FIOS I cannot see why it would not, since these require a modem to use the services and the Airport Extreme or Time Capsule, are simply a router of the signal or a router of the signal and storage bank. If you are speaking about a Hotspot, you would not need this, as a hotspot is a standalone device that pulls the internet in off the 3G/4G network and devices connect wirelessly to it. If this is what you have then you only need an external hard drive to solve the backup and storage solution. Hope this helps. I will tell you it is extremely easy to set up the Airport and all tech support is based in the US and Canada. My first one lasted me 10 1/2 years before it started to give me any trouble. It still works, however, the technology has improved and the device was starting to drop my signal once in a while.
