• You send them the promo code they should be able to put it in their Apple Music account and redeem it . If that fails reach out to Apple Music support and let them know the situation. A typically the former should work then the latter if that doesn’t work just swap accounts.

• On the gifted device, go to Apple Music or wherever you're trying to redeem the offer, and it should give you an option saying your new device comes with 3 months free of Music.
