Bought my ipad2 back in August of 2013. It is still working today. These things last a long time as long as you take care of them obviously. I would expect nothing less from the latest editions of iPads. I will be upgrading to a new iPad soon. There really is nothing wrong with my ipad2 other than its starting to get kinda slow and sluggish but it's just something that happens over time from what I've read.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My iPad is 5 years old and still runs fine, BUT can no longer run the latest software updates. Apple stopped updating my iPad 3 this year. This means the apps are updating, but my ipad is not, so it runs slower and can't receive some apps. I had the same problem with my 10 year old laptop. Short answer, the ipad itself will last a long time, but after 5 years or so Apple may not update the running system software and it won't run as many apps and will slow down. This probably won't matter for books and other simple programs. For complex games, it depends on whether you can keep up with the updates.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have an original iPad that is still working quite well. However, it stopped accepting IOS updates at version five, This results in many apps being in a non-updatable status. Alas, I must upgrade.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Have had model A1395 since 12/20/2011 and never had any problems. It is the 32GB model w/ wi-fi and tho it does not work cellular, I use Apples's Face Time or the instant message to text/talk to my family. My battery life usually lasts a week and a half and I always bring the usage down to 20% or less before charging. A wonderful machine.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you take good care of it, You will get about 5 years use of it before it wouldn't allow you to upgrade the system. Then there will be problems in getting a lot of updates.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I read on a blog post from Apple that the iOS 9 is the last software update that will support iPad2. After that, it has security vulnerabilities. My iPad2 still works great, it's getting slow but will still do it's job. But I will be upgrading because of not being supported anymore.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My iPad 1 (first version) does NOT accept recent operating system updates, therefore most apps no longer work and neither can new apps be added. Beware they may last forever, but may not always be "updateable"
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had an Ipad for almost 6 years now. I use it for all the reasons you listed plus I travel with it, watch internet shows in hotels with it and use it on stage for musical chart reading. I have the 32 gig model and never really filled it up. Great tool, as long as you take care of it. I'm looking to upgrade to the newer model myself, more out of want than need.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased my iPad Air in January of 2015 and the battery wont charge, Allen the company and was told they can’t help me because the warranty last only a year. Well I was very upset and told them paying all this money for an iPad and doesn’t even last 2years so that’s time you don’t stand behind your product. So now I’m stuck with a useless iPad. D
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I purchased my iPad 4th Generatoin in 2012, it still runs like new, just slower :( IOS 10.3.3 on it and is not upgradeable to the current IOS system. I basicley have only used it in summers when we are outside all day. I'm sad that it isn't upgradeable and getting a new one isn't an option.
