A:Answer The iPad requires some degree of internet connection unless you intend to use native apps, some if which still require a connection. You can use it free at public hotspots, like libraries, Starbucks, some cities have wifi coverage, or a friends wifi router. Otherwise you'll have to pay to play. Wifi only models will connect to wifi only. Wifi and wireless (cellular) can use either. Prices vary, read and understand the fine print on the wifi/cellular contract or your wallet/purse will suffer. Some are purposefully misleading with the bold print, and the devil is *always* in the details.
