• I find the anti-reflective coating useful. I don't spend much time reading outside, but I have used it for taking pictures and video, and I can see the images and scene quite well. I'm a little more particular, so I opted to pay more for the Air because of the anti-reflective coating and the tighter bond between screen and glass.

• I can read with this iPad outside with the brightness at 50%. I could barely see the screen of my iPad 4 outside with the brightness at 100%
