• A:Answer I just bought one and it accepted 2 different sim cards from 2 different service contractors. I suspect this means it's unlocked. It said it was unlocked on the best buy website.

• A:Answer You could probably buy it retail unlocked and switch sims but that’s expensive. If you have device insurance, call AT&T and exchange it. They’ll ask for a small deductible. Without insurance, all you can do is take it to get repaired.

• A:Answer Your contract with ATT lasts as long as the contract you sign; 1 year, 2 years or maybe even 3 if they have a 3 yr plan. You can pay off the phone whenever you want, but you get locked into the contract.

• A:Answer No, you cannot. BB is not permitted to sell unlocked iPhones. They can only be purchased directly from Apple. I had this same issue myself! They can sell it to you for 95% of the list price. 5% gets put on your carrier, (at&t) bill and the phone will be locked to your carrier. This apparently became “law” 15 months, or so, ago.
