That’s how t-mobile screws people! Never go the bill credit route! If it’s not a deduction of the purchase price don’t do it because you will not own the phone until the bill credits are done.

Your agreement with TMobile is financial - you have a liability of the residual value until the agreement is paid off. It doesn't matter what phone you have on the line - think of it like a bank loan, which TMobile also credits every month on your behalf as far as you keep the service line active.
