Do i get the upgrade free since my 2-years are up? null

It won't be completely free, you still have to pay the upgrade fee. But it is much less than paying for the full cost of the phone! Also, at the time Best Buy was offering rebated for trading in the i5, so see if those are still going on.

I was told today that att no longer offers any upgrade deals and requires the att next program if you don't want to pay full upfront.

Most phones are not free but can come at a reduced price in store depending on the age of the phone. But none times out of ten the installment billing options are the more budget friendly choices for the carriers. Plus you are no longer in a service contract!
