Every version of OS X since Snow Leopard includes QuickTIme X, which is the latest version of the video player software. If you want to create content using QuickTime, you need a license key to QuickTime Pro. Apple used to charge $25 for the upgrade from QuickTime player to QuickTime Pro. Paying the money for the upgrade gave you a license that unlocked previously installed features in your copy of QuickTime player. Apple also gave you a license to QuickTime Pro when you bought their professional applications like Final Cut Pro or Logic Studio. Most people don't need QuickTime Pro.
