The exterior seems like the same rubberized material used in the smart covers, so remains to be seen how well it will hold up over time. The keys are a hard plastic—basically similar to a regular computer keyboard (the backlighting is nice). As for the overall rigidity of the keyboard—excellent. It does not bend or flex, and with the iPad in it and closed, feels like a laptop. Open, it feels like a laptop, but top heavy. Overall, very happy with the build quality and glad I bought it as I had been using an external bluetooth keyboard which was problematic for me.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The magic keyboard is made of the same exterior material as the smart keyboard folio that came before it. As for the durability, the bottom keyboard section is well weighted and is backed by a firm metal plate, so there is no wobble when picking up the device and carrying it in the open position. The magnets are nice and strong, and takes a decent pull to remove the iPad from the case. The top hinge portion that the iPad connects to is stiff, and the hinge is nice and resistive to unexpected movement; so once you place the iPad at the angle you want, it will stay there. Keyboard is a joy to type on, and the trackpad is easy to use and responsive to clicks.

But for right now I am quite pleased , its a bit pricey but it protects the Ipad very well has a built in charger port the keyboard is not bad and serves a great stand when watching movies and typing
