Had this issue. Got this solution and it worked. This link (from apple support) explains the steps. Ultimately, you add the cose through apple MUSIC app...i know. Wierd. But yes, add the code there and when I checked, my apple tv next billing date reflected the 3 month free. Hopefully its not too late for you. Good luck! http://support.apple.com/HT201209

If you don't have iTunes on your Android there is a Apple music app that is the same .you can create your Apple ID Here. Also in the creation of account it will ask you about your name and address, register your credit !card this is the main important part register the credit card! for payment in the future Because you cannot use a free Apple TV offer without the credit card .Once everything is registered , credit card is set up and you got your Apple ID you can then set up the offer through the iTunes app ! Then go to your new TV click on the Apple+app then put in your new Apple ID and password now that your payment plan has been set up with your credit card registered and then it will work! you can also go through the iTunes store through your phone tablet or on any operating system that can handle apple music or I tunes....it's a hassle hope this helps.
