Apple covers the pencil for a year. Keep the box for the serial number because they will need it to look up your purchase date.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My Apple Pencil 1st gen which cost 99.99 in 2018 is not working as of 5/15/2020. I have not used it for a long time. After online search I finally saw a reply from someone who says unfortunately I need to order another pencil. Why? Because if it sat around unused AND NOT KEPT CHARGED UP the battery in the Apple Pencil is dead. It always needs to be kept charged a minimum of 5-10% all the time. The Pencil keeps showing only 3% now and will not charge more. I hope my error for not asking at time of purchase will help someone else, so extra insurance would have been helpful at time of purchase . So now I’m out 100.00 bucks and owner to a useless Apple Pencil, because I passed the one year warranty. Ugh
