You can choose not to activate the cellular. Then it would work just through the Bluetooth connection to your iPhone. That would be the same functionality as the watch without cellular connectivity.

I currently just use the GPS / standard features. Maybe someday i'll hook it up to cellular. hope this helps... But to be clear - you have to buy the cellular version (which is more expensive) to be able to make the decision. Otherwise you'll just get the watch that's dependent on your phone.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It will work with just the phone. You only connect to the carrier if you get the watch with cellular, if you get the non-cellular, it just connects to the phone or WiFi when available.
