• Yes, even if your phone is not connected the Apple Watch can make calls over WiFi if your carrier supports it. Bluetooth headphone can also be connected directly to the Apple Watch. Calls can be made through Siri or by opening the phone app.

• The GPS model has to be paired to an iPhone Xs or later, and works over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi (when available) to communicate with the iPhone. This is how it makes and receives calls and notifications.
