QuestionComcast customer. Have Netgear N600 dual band router and outdated/unsupported Motorola Modem SB6121. Looking to upgrade modem. Can I upgrade just the modem and continue using the current router or should I upgrade to a combo modem/router like SBG10?

- Answer Purchased this modem to replace Cox modem. Although SBG10 is a combo modem, I kept my Apple WiFi modem for home networking. Installation was easy and works great.

- Answer Please note that SBG10 is a cable modem gateway ( modem and router inbuilt), it does not has VOIP ports so it won't work with your Comcast voice services. You can instead opt for the T25 modem that is compatible with Xfinity Voice

- Answer Correct this is a combo device with a cable modem and an inbuilt Wi-Fi router. You will need to have an active internet subscription from a cable internet service provider to use this device

QuestionI already have a spectrum WIFI modem but the internet signal does not reach up stairs. Can I hook this up to my existing cable line up stairs to run WIFI or do I need to call spectrum to set this up?

- Answer No. You can’t install two modems. Your issue can be resolved by adding a Mesh WIFI system. You would connect the Mesh WiFi directly to your Spectrum modem and it will take over as your WiFI connection. You will then take the additional WiFi satellites and place them in your dead zones. The modem will still be needed to bring the internet into your house. Search Mesh WiFi on Best Buy and you will get different price points to choose from.

- Answer Hi, Yes, you can enable/disable the Wi-Fi from this gateway. You can utilize the two available gigabit ethernet ports to connect your wired devices.

- Answer Optimum allows DOCSIS 3.1 modems on their Internet (no phone service) service for all Internet speeds. Please check with Optimum if they allow the SBG10 with your Cable Internet plan.

QuestionCan the wi-fi be turned off with this router and just used wired?

- Answer It has 2 LAN ports so you can use those for router/PCs. You can turn off wireless by connecting to it at 192.168.0.1 and enter the password in the manual. In the general settings you just need to have all the wireless options unchecked.

- Answer Wow Magic Jack.. I haven't heard that in forever..in the early 90's it use to be on TV all the time. With that being said the magic jack takes an Ethernet plug from the jack to the modem so yes this would work. Hope this helps!
