no. i bought and tried several modems and none of them worked with RCN. the only modem that will work is the one that they provide and they do not give the option of buying it. if you use their service you have to rent a modem from them. that is one of the reasons that i am considering leaving for another provider. another reason is that since they were taken over by astound broadband the service is not the same. although it has gotten better when they first took over there were outages on a daily basis. no t.v. internet or phone service for anywhere from 20 to 180 minutes per day, everyday for at least 3 to 4 weeks. they were supposed to give me a credit for the outages by $22 isn't going to cut it for me. the person that i talked to last week said that a manager would call me within 24 to 72 hours. didn't happen. if you don't have their service then i would recommend trying someone else to start. if you do have their service then don't waste your time trying to find a modem that is compatible with RCN. it doesn't exist.
