Yes, this will work, so long as you put the SBG6900 in bridge mode. A better solution would be to get a new, top-tier modem like the new ARRIS S33, $200 at Best Buy. This will future-proof you for a few years and is exactly what I did in conjunction with this tri-band mesh router duo. If you need another one to provide better coverage, you can add as many as are needed so there will be no dead spots. Try to hard wire as many devices as possible and reserve wireless for where there is no option. I do this with a gigabit Ethernet switch. such as those from Netgear as referenced below. And don't forget CAT-6 Ethernet cables in the lengths you need for all your devices. I hope this reply will prove useful to you.
