Mine gets a little warm but has never gotten hot. I do have it in an open environment though so I can't speak for those who have it inside a console or shelving.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. I never saw issues with performance, but at its normal temperature it would likely fail prematurely. Others have indicated problems occurring at higher temperatures and heat ultimately kills electronics so you want to run them as cool as possible. Mounting a fan above it blowing down on itwas the one way I could adequately cool it down to normal temperatures like the other electronic devices I own. It is situated on an open shelf in an air conditioned home at around 77°F.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am on my second S33 in 6 months. In an open, well ventilated and cool (69-72F) room the top of the device gets to be 52-54C. About that time performance drops and internet starts to drop out. I put a small fan on it and top temp gets to 20-25C and the connection stays stable. When above 40C I start to see degraded performance and never exceed 500MB on transfer test. Call to Arris happily RMA'd it without much challenge.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine sometimes becomes unstable during summer (blinking orange LED, web inteface unavailable). It's probably overheating. It has very poor case design. It's a thermal cacoon with barely any vents.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We recommend you to place the modem in an open and elevated place to ensure the temperature is maintained in acceptable levels
