That depends on what internet speed you subscribe to from your cable company - if you don't have DOCSIS 3.1 or Gigabit service, you won't see any major difference with this modem as opposed to a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. That said, this modem will work even if you have older, DOCSIS 3.0 service, and should you decide to upgrade to gigabit at some point, then you won't have to buy another one. To be sure, however, contact your cable company and see if they support this modem.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Linksys will Work Great! Tri band Router for WiFi Signal=Perfect. Most Modems use DOCSIS 3.0. The SB8200 is the 1st of its kind DOCSIS 3.1. Most Routers that can download 1Gb & are 802.11 work fine. The Surfboard SB8200 is backward compatible you should be fine. Which internet speed are you trying to get too? SB8200 is used for 1Gb=1000mbps SB6183 gets up to 600mbps SB6141 gets a 100mbps easy I feel buying the SB8200 is overkill, unless your getting 1000mbps. You could buy a lesser Modem if your speeds are less than a 1000mbps. The Modem Router only download & upload what your ISP send (meaning, these products can’t create more bandwidth). *Side Note, Dual Band means 2 WiFi channels 2.5m/5m Tri band gives 1 extra channel. (Down to personal choice) SB6190 is good also... Hope this helps TimmyB
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.3.1 is the best right now. Do not buy the 3.0 that would be a DOWNGRADE
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.3.1 is backwards compatible with 3.0.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The docsis standard is what your modem uses to communicate back to your CO (Comcast or whoever is your provider). It has nothing to do with your wifi. Docsis 3.1 is backwards compatible, and ensures that you getting the fastest download speeds from your provider. You are fine keeping your Arris modem.
