Yes. (Why Microsoft cheaped out on the port, is beyond me. Space/cost whatever for High end headsets it's required.) However, depending on which Mixamp you have, you may be able to just Update the Firmware and not need the adapter at all. I was looking into upgrading to new headset (although mine works perfect on X1X), or buying adapter, but found Firmware Upgrade (free). After running into the same issue, old A40 (white) with Mixamp Pro TR (2015 version) going to new Xbox Series X. I was able to download Astro Command Center app on PC, hook up A40's mixamp Pro, update firmware, and now work perfect through USB. YES , I can control Voice/Game toggle and Volume through the MixAmp like before. So you may have a free option to get what you need.
