Q: QuestionIs this laptop capable of reading CD-R and CD-RW discs?I noticed that in the specifications the Optical Drive Type was a DVD-RW. I was just wondering if the disc drive could read regular CD discs (music and games) as well as the capability to use CD-R and CD-RW discs? Thank you very much.

• A:Answer Yes. Any time you see a current drive that says it a DVD-RW drive, it should be able to read any type of CD or DVD (CD, CD-R, DVD, DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW), with the exception of Blu-Ray or other high definition video type discs. If you want Blu-Ray, make sure you see that it says that it is supported specifically.

Q: QuestionWindows 10 pre installed?If I factory reset this laptop, will that still be a windows 10, or it is a windows 8.1 upgraded to 10 in store?

Q: QuestionIs the Hard Drive loud?I recently bought an HP laptop with similar specs, but unfortunately the hard drive is making an annoying sound, and the guys at geek squad said that the sound is normal, and it depends on the model of the laptop for the sound of the hard drive to be different. So basically I was wondering...is the hard drive with this laptop noisy? For instance, does it make a screechy noise that's very noticeable. I find the hard drive noise to be rather odd because my old HP laptop didn't make a noise like that. A ton of people have recommended Asus to me, so that is why I'm interested in this laptop. Thanks to anyone that can help! P.S. • A:Answer No, the laptop is super quiet, even when I'm pushing it hard while gaming or streaming. There's no noticeable noise at all - a few times I've thought it turned itself off, actually, but the screen had just gone off, the laptop was still on.

• A:Answer If you hit the fn+f4 key, that should turn on the key back lighting. Hitting fn+f3, will turn it down, then off. Hitting either combo will go through the 4 steps - off, low, middle, high. Hope that works for you!

Q: QuestionIs installing an SSD easy?Has anyone opened it up and installed an SSD? Was it an easy process? Is the size 2.5 inches? Thanks! I want to upgrade from the HDD to an SSD.

• A:Answer It was relatively easy. Opening the case is very easy - take out all the screws and pop off the back cover revealing everything. There are helpful youtube videos that show this. There are no extra bays so you will need to do the clone with an external cable or by using a DVD replacement hard drive bay. I bought a Samsung EVO 512 GB SSD and their software would not clone it on Windows 10. I ended up buying Acronis TrueImage (need version 16) and it was quick and easy. The SSD made it super fast! I believe it was a 2.5" 9mm drive.

Q: QuestionQuestion About Model Number.I just purchased this computer for my wife, Model: Q551LN-BBI7T09. In Windows-10 under Settings-System-About, the Model Number is listed as Q551LB. Anybody else have this problem?

• A:Answer If the laptop you have is the same one as you asked the question about then it is model number Q551L located on the bottom on the laptop from what I understand Q551;N is just about the same laptop as this one but the Q551L has a better / newer graphics car the Q551L has the nvidia GEFORCE 940m and the Q551LN has the the nvidia GE FORCE 850m

Q: QuestionWhat do you need to use a gaming headset in the single input?I currently bought this laptop but when I plug my headset into the input I can either use my mic or my headset not both. I have tried using an apple certified mic/headset combo and a set of beats with mic attachment.

• A:Answer I don't know if the mic/headphone supports your headset or not. Your headset probably has 4 poles (look like 3 black stripes (possibly another color) on the 1/8" plug with 4 areas of bare metal). Sometimes only 2 or three poles may be supported. May want to try USB headset.

• A:Answer I brought my Asus from the U.S to Israel (220V), and it works just fine- most laptop's power packs today have the voltage on it that says from 110V-240V you just need the right adaptor to plug it into the wall jack.

Q: QuestionCAN'T LOCATE WHEN CD IS IN DRIVEi put a CD in the dvd/cd drive. It is a music CD and nothing comes up to let me know it is in. I had to go to Player and hit file and play/stop. Shouldn't a screen come up and tell me? I guess it does not read a burned DVD with Word files either.

• A:Answer If it is a properly formatted CD, then the setting you want to set is done with Autoplay. Go to the search feature in Windows (varies by Win7/8.1/10) but usually found around start button or by clicking it (Win 8.0, I don't recall), and type "autoplay" and press enter. You can then set how to open each type of media, including have the "ask me every time" option to pop up the window to give you a choice of how open the disc.

Q: QuestionThe external Subwoofer?I didn't read anything about the free external Sonicmaster subwoofer that came with my laptop, so I was fairly surprised when I saw it when I unboxed it. My laptop is perfect but when I plug in the subwoofer in the 2.5mm audio port, there is no sound coming out from the subwoofer. I already contacted Asus support and installed the latest audio drivers. So I don't think it's my laptop, but the subwoofer itself. For people who bought this laptop and tested the subwoofer, can you confirm if it works for you?

• A:Answer You cannot add two additional monitors for this model unit. You can use 1 external monitor with it. It has 1 x HDMI port.
