Yes, Most ASUS routers (including this one) will work with CenturyLink fiber internet. You do not need a modem since the ONT(Optical Network Terminal) does the job of the modem. The router must support VLAN tagging, which this does. You will need your PPPOE username and password (different from your CenturyLink account username) which can be provided to you by CenturyLink tech support if you don't already have it. In the router setup, you will need to set the VLAN for the internet to 201. This setting can be found in the LAN/IPTV section.

If you have a separate router and modem (two devices) rather than a combo, yes, you can replace the router. If you just have the one box (the combo one), you will need to use this in addition to it.
