The routers branded with an "R" instead of a "U" denote the units that are Best Buy retail units. None of the hardware or software is different in any way. All units should be new unless otherwise specifically noted.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The R stands for Best Buy Retail Item. Asus does this for tracking purposes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have read that R stands for Retail, a special version for retailers, but the innards are supposed to be the same as the U version. In fact, my R router runs a firmware designated for a U router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The (R) just designates that the router is the retail version of the same router. Brick and mortar stores sell almost exclusively the (R) designated model, but if you purchase the same router from somewhere like Amazon you'll get the (U) model in most cases. And a quick google search for either router model (R) vs (U) will return results for both models.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The R is the latest upgrade to the U. That's it. Just newly made and it's fantastic!! It's like an iPhone 4S upgrading to the iPhone 5, with NO bugs!!
